Fondue memories....

Well we had a lovely long weekend

Friday

Not a long weekend for John unfortunately but my parents popped over to go swimming for the afternoon. Nate was, as always, very good and fascinated by the swimming lesson on the pool beside us and wanted to walk everywhere holding onto a float. We took it in turns to hop into the next pool to do some quick lengths, 6 each in the end but while Mum was doing hers it became apparent that Nate had had enough so we sang him songs until Mum was finished and then headed off to get something to eat. We went to the Cricketers which is just a beefeaters but is normally quite good. I had their quesedilla, not something I had tried before but it was just heavenly! Nate disgraced himself by pooing twice, the second time so profusely that he then needed an entire change of clothes (luckily I was prepared). We then headed home around 5 ish and he was exhausted so had a bottle of milk in a Nanny and Grandad sandwich...

We then popped him down for a very short nap and vegged for a bit waiting for John to get home, but Nate was awake very quickly so played for a bit.

before opening Nates birthday presents from his Nan and Grandad. I will eventually post a video but I have to wait on John to upload it.

Once the boy was in bed, we started cooking tea. John and I had been unable to resist buying fondue cheese in costco before Christmas so we dug it out (John bought some very nice bread too dunk and new potatoes (which I forgot to cook) and we preceded to have a gentle natter with yummy cheese dripping everywhere, followed by trifle from the party.

All-in-all it was a lovely day and Mum and Dad didn't leave until late but as they left they mentioned that they would see us tomorrow for babysitting. Thank god they did as we had completely forgotten we had booked to go to Brighton for a comedy evening. In fact Paul and Lorraine were supposed to be coming to see us this weekend but had rung to say they were too ill. Lord only knows how we managed that.

Saturday

As we were going to be away for the evening we decided this morning to let Nate open another present. This time it was from Mark and Naz, slippers and a fire engine with two firemen. They were a huge hit and he played with his fire engine for most of the morning!

He then sat and watched the video we had taken

And had a cuddle with his Dad

Before too long we had to head off to Mum and Dads as we wanted to get something to eat in Brighton before the show. Nate crawled to the front door to say good bye and we headed off. We found the theatre and parking easily but then went to find somewhere to eat. We first tried pizza hut but were told there was a wait of 1/2 hour for a table. We then headed off to find somewhere else. John fancied Italian but the only places which had tables weren't Italian. We finally managed to get a table but sat for 20 minutes and saw no plates cleaned or served in that entire time so gave up and left again. After a few more stops we gave up and, romantic as ever, had a Subway.

We then had a fantastic evening with various comedians and musician. Marcus Brigstock was a great host/compere,Mitch Benn was splendiferous as ever (In fact I came home and bought his latest album), Russel Howard couldn't make it (but for a good cause) and there was an amazing rendition of Oasis' Look back in anger by Carleen Anderson, And the magificent Mark Steel issued another glorious rant. But the big surprise was Alistair McGowan - neither of us are dreadfully keen on him normally but he was very funny.

We got back to Mum's gone midnight and gathered up a small boy and took him home to bed.

Sunday

Luckily Nate slept late so we had a vegging day and stayed in our bathrobe all day something I don't think we had done since our student days - it was blissful.
