A lovely but tiring day...

It has been a looong day. This morning Nathan and I went to our first proper Homestart group session (sounds like therapy). Despite my reservations we had a great time - Nathan pootled about playing with the other kids and eventually settled on following Eddy round - much to his disgust. We potted a pansy for Mothers Day...

...and then I made Nate a kite (I was supposed to make a fish but thought it looked more like a duck so went with that).

At 11 they gave the kids a snack and then headed outside to the tennis court so the kids could play with the kites, streamers and some balls. Towards the end Nate started to get grumpy (no nap) but all in all he loved it. When we got home, Mum, Dad and Nan were sat in the car waiting for us so we quickly nipped in dumped stuff, let the dog out, picked up the swimming kit and headed for the pool. Nate was really enjoying himself and can now walk almost unaided with a foam float in the pool (just a nearby hand to catch him as the pool is REALLY slippery) and was great the whole time so we all took turns to nip out and do some lengths. One little boy bought floats to me and Nan but we told him we didn't want them ut that Nate loves the floats so he then acted as float guard returning it to Nathan whever it got away from him - very sweet. It was only when Mum was finishing her lengths that Nate started to get restless and grumpy so we got out and got changed and, instead of going out to lunch, got kfc so he could eat and go down for a nap (meantime, we stuffed our faces and also napped). However before we got home it was too late - he was zonked out and not waking for awayone so we popped him down for a quick nap and stuffed food in his mouth as soon as he woke. He then kept all three adults entertained until they had to leave to miss the rush hour. I was poopified so John cooked (chinese - YAY!) and we are now having a lovely lazy evening.
