Having a stroke is frankly depressing and it is easy to focus of how awkward everything is now, how everything takes twice as long as it used to and how little things like getting dressed are an exercise in patience, something I've never had a lot of. However, recently it has occured to me that i have a lot to me thankful for and it would do no harm to innumerate them for future cheering up needs....
1. I am lucky to be alive unlike this poor woman who had a stroke a week after me while being 26 weeks pregnant.
2. I am lucky that my stroke doesn't seem to have effected nathan, except that he maybe isn't as big as he would have been ( but that is probably partly down to me loosing so much weight while pregnant because I was so sick)
3. I am lucky that I have John. He can be an arse at times but he was great while is was in hospital, is fantastic with Nathan and not a complete fool...
4. I am lucky Nathan is a generally a very amiable baby so nappy changing etc is fairly easy one handed
5. I am lucky that I was very quickly back on my feet and, what is more, my arm is beginning to respond and I will hopefully be back at the piano eventually.
6. And look what a cutie my baby is...
