Lets buuuurrrrn the terrorist....

Yup its that time again - to celebrate the hanging, drawing and quartering of a plotter against the government by burning his effigy... Doesn't sound so lovely put like that but BOY, I LURVE me some Guy Fawkes night, after all..

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot,
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Now this was of course Nathan first go at Bonfire night so in order to give him enough energy to stay up way beyond his normal bed time he had a rusk and a quick play on the floor...
He now wrapped up warm and we parked on the field - I am still not quite up to the walk up and so, as we were driving anyway we gave grandad a lift (Nan however fancied the walk). We headed straight for the stall to say hello to mum, dad, chris and phil who were manning one of the hotdog stalls and, of course, it would have been rude to have walked away without sampling their wares...

It wasn't long until Nan appeared, closely followed by Jan and Pete. Unfortunately poor Lucy had a migraine (hope she is feeling better) so no Aden and Lucy.

Nathan then convinced his dad that on top of the burger and hotdog he had already eaten he needed a twix and he would help finished it.

John then retrieved and replaced Nathan glove for the 100th time before watching the torchlit procession as it wended its way to the field.

We managed to meet up with Glyn and Shona (amazingly they happen in a crowd of over 5000 people to be walking past us as we rang them. Then the bonfire was lit by throwing the torches onto the pile and it went up really quickly! We had to move back almost immediately as the heat was amazing.

video :

After about 10 minutes they started one of the best fireworks displays that I have seen at Bramley (and elsewhere).

Nathan was shocked and cried at first but soon got used to it and was mesmerised...

After we said our goodbyes to Glyn and Shona, gathered up Grandad and headed to Mums for dessert. Nathan had a change of clothes after disgracing himself and was still bouncing when we popped him in the travel cot but was asleep in minutes. We finally disturbed him around 11ish and headed home.

Edit : forgot to say - it was a lovely clear night - you could see the milky way early on and it only started to rain as we pulled up outside Mum's afterwards so perfect timing really!

Nathan officially a LUMP!

In contrast to yesterdays miserable weather it is blue sky and sunshine today! Today Nate had his 9 month checkup (He is on 8.5 months old but nevermind) and he is now officially a big lump at 8.82kg or 19lb7. According to the health visitor he is absolutely spot on what he should be and she has no worries...

We also have more big news but I'm not allowed to discuss it online -sorry to be so cryptic but mentioning it here will remind me to tell the parents...

An Earful and a mouthful...

It is a rotten day - wind howling, rain pouring - so we pinched punched Mum on the phone (Dad got me - damn him!) and then pinched punched Kris too. By this point, John had decided he would not be leaving the house today and I decided today would be a bathrobe day. Luckily when we ran out of baby cough mixture John insisted that he go so the world was spared me in my bathrobe...

Nate is currently insisting he can hold his bottle while drinking his bottle in the morning. He is getting better and better at it so this morning I let him while I read an email. When I turned back he had a ear completely full of milk and I had to turn him on his side to let it drain out. His cold is really making him really tired so much so that he had 2 naps today, slept late and went to bed lightly early. He also achieved a spectacular (for spectacular read messy) feat of yawning, sneezing and coughing all at the same time while keeping his mouth open to receive a mouthful of food. He was a bit put out when I couldn't get it in his mouth as I was laughing too hard.

Oops forgot to mention earlier

John has uploaded the wedding footage. And if you haven't see the photos they are here.

A Legal child and a bat baby in training

So on Friday we went and reregistered Nathan so he is boringly legal now... Afterwards we headed to the shops to take something back and then as we were so near headed to Mum's to pick up my coat which had my camera in the pocket. The boys was now STARVING so we all decamped to the Grantley for lunch. Nathan was a bit stroppy (he had missed his nap afterall) but didn't kick up too much of a stink when he found the fishy whales he order were actually fishy rockets.

To make up for his bad behaviour he blew kisses a lot
something that grandad can also do

Asterwards we headed homewards via the supermarket to buy some pumpkins but could only find really little ones. Nathan can now easily sit in the trolleys but his feet are more fascinating than shopping...

Today after lunch Nate and I packed trick or treat bags (his help was invalueable). (yes the father christmas in the background is still there from last year - we aren't that organised)
His cold is still niggling so, we had planned to carve pumpkins with him letting play with the gucky innards but he had a second nap instead and was much better for it but we carved them for him (John did Nates) and a damned fine job we did too! Just as we finished Nate woke up and was very impressed with our efforts
Is there anything more threatening than pumpkins on wheelie bins?

In appreciation he got all dressed up!
